Building Homes For Wounded Vets

King Oaks is proud to join the Aggieland Community and Operation FINALLY HOME in supporting our military personnel who fight for our freedom and sacrifice so much for our country. Since 2005, Operation FINALLY HOME has partnered with developers, builders and donors to provide mortgage-free custom homes to wounded veterans and the widows of fallen soldiers.

After working with national non-profit Operation FINALLY HOME in communities across Texas, SouthStar Communities is excited to provide an acreage lot in its Bryan-College Station community, King Oaks. This will be the first home for Operation FINALLY HOME to build in Aggieland!

How It Works:

Operation FINALLY HOME works with home builders and developers to commit to building a home. Once the commitment is in place, the program works hand-in-hand with building suppliers and donors to get much needed material and manpower donated to drive the cost of the home down.

This process has worked in the program’s completed homes and is also the same process set in place for the homes in progress.  The total value of the completed homes comes to 1.2 Million dollars, while Operation FINALLY HOME’s cost to build the homes is around $75,000.

For our Aggieland veteran, Sgt. Monte Bernardo, three local builders have stepped up to build his family’s new home. They are Pitcock & Croix Custom HomesWeber Custom Homes and builder Quinn Williams.

Now it’s your turn! To complete the home in King Oaks, we need the community’s help and support in the form of volunteers, fundraising, monetary donations and donated materials and supplies. About Dan Wallrath

More About Operation FINALLY HOME:

Operation FINALLY HOME was founded in 2005 as a non-partisan/non-profit organization with the mission to provide Americans the ability to honor and thank America’s wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed to defend our country in the global War on Terror.  Severely wounded and disabled service members return home to confront extreme hardships, from physical and emotional disabilities to financial ruin, joblessness and homelessness.  Dismayed by their plight, Operation FINALLY HOME addresses the most pressing need of our returning heroes  — a home to call their own. By donating a home to these deserving veterans, it helps them get their lives back on track and become productive members of their communities.

The program was founded by Bay Area homebuilder Dan Wallrath after he helped a friend’s son renovate his home to meet his new needs as a wounded veteran. In 2010, Wallrath was honored as one of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes of the Year and has since expanded the program to a national level.

Operation FINALLY HOME relies on the donations of developers, home builders, contractors, corporate sponsors and individual contributors to continue building homes for those who have given so much for our country.
